Time off has been very great during Thanksgiving & Christmas season, but I'm very thrilled to be back in the swing of keeping the roads hot again...Needless to say there's a few extra pounds that need shedding off after the holidays.
To start the year off right, we sang this past weekend in Jemison, Ala at the Gospel Music Barn or known as the blue barn. Marlin and Glenda are now some of my favorite people in the world! I've never, in my lifetime, seen so many blue berry bushes. Wonder if that's why they recognize it as the blue barn??? O well...I'm a little slow at times...You people will understand as you get to know me. These folks are some of the sweetest down home people I've ever met!! They feed the people that come to listen & they bring in different groups on a monthly basis. Their motto is "come w/empty bowls & empty hearts” & you leave physically full & spiritually full!! Now how neat is that??? You won't find service of that nature in your typical restaurant. The neat thing is that the food is FREE!! And....very delicious!! I think Shay, Troy, & Buddy were a little embarrassed by the time I went through the line for about the 3rd time. The people standing in line would always seem to motion for me to come on through w/o waiting. I would ask them if they had eaten yet & they would respond no ma'am. I was nice enough to inform them that this was my 2nd or 3rd time through the line....but they would still insist that I go ahead.;) I think the fellors had lost all respect for me after my 3rd trip around.
This road trip was also an experience for me as to being the newest member of Southern Image. Normally we have the luxury of staying overnight in a hotel. Yeah....We all actually stayed overnight on the bus & slept on our bunks this weekend. The bunks were very comfortable. I was fit to be tied!! Awesome!!! It was until after that midnight hour & I began to hear the sound of a mighty rushing, Earthquake as it rattled the walls & shook the bunks from beneath. It was such a very deep low down voice & I honestly thought that the rapture had taken place. It's just a little freaky when you're in a deep sleep & this deep earth shaking voice sound awakens you. Bless his heart!! By now you all should know whom I am talking about....It's that low down bass singer!! By this time, Shay had kicked his snoring in 2nd gear... We had a lead snore & a bass snore. But of course, Shay was very mild compared to the God talking of a voice. I slept w/my pillow & cover up over my head all night. Next morning I told Troy I had 2 words to say to him and that was C Pap!!
For those who normally follow Southern Image in the past, just want you to know that they have invested in their very own beauty salon right in the convenience of their very own bus. ;) So Astonishing!! More lighting has been added along w/several other accommodations in order to make the means of their perfect beauty to shine through!! I showed them that this would not be painful at all. I told them about the miracle of hot rollers & what all that it could do in finding their inner beauty that has never been surfaced. Needless to say, this is the before effect on this picture. They didn't take a picture of the after effect. That does not surprise me at all. Isn't that just like most fellors catching you at your worst time? But...that's ok...I'll wait til they don't have their teeth in or Shay when he first wakes up w/his hair not combed & I will be able to reveal their most embarrassing moments to share.
We sang Sunday night at the Church of the Living God in Jasper, AL. Those people know how to have church!! My! My! My! I thought I was gonna have to pull out Troy's hankie from his pocket & wave it!! They preached, we'd sang, Preach again, we'd sang. It reminded me of good ole camp meetin days as a child. Wonderful time in the Lord with those folks!!
Well, signing off for now...Til next time!!
P.S. Keep Buddy's father in your prayers, he just had heart surgery, & Troy is undergoing sinus surgery this next week.
God bless to you all!!
