The Steak Never Knew What Hit It!

This past Friday night we had the privilege to sing at the Evergreen Fish & Steak House near Mooreville. I absolutely love singing there because I love eating their food. It was, as always, a great singing. I got to meet some new friends and it is always special to sing there. We were a little down though because Mr. Perry wasn't there. He had been in an accident earlier in the week and we were all relieved that he was doing better than expected. I didn't disappoint him though. I tackled a steak as big as I am! I would have got pictures but it was gone before the camera flashed!

Saturday my boys - Shay and Noa had their football game. I was sure they were going to pull it off but they didn't They are all winners in my book! Shay and I left there and went Booneville's Fall fest to judge a talent competition. I am glad I wasn't competing in the competition. There was some great talent there!

We are off for the next few weeks. We will be recording music for our upcoming CD that is full of some of our favorite songs.

Keep in touch - I love reading comments..

Have You Ever Been There?

I say this most all of the time, "I don't know where I would be without music." Music has been my outlet to relieve stress. So many times I find myself almost depressed because we aren't singing on a particular weekend or maybe we just have one.

Recently, Shay wrote a song that we are going to record the music to later this week in Nashville. The title of it is, "He Never Left Me." The very first part of that song touched me so that I told Shay if he didn't let me sing this I wasn't cooking for him anymore! The first lines say: "I've been in a prison without a cell."  I don't know about you but that's how it's been for me sometimes. I know in Christ Jesus I am free, but because of circumstances in my life it feels like there is an invisible jail cell around me. The chorus says: He never left me alone, when I was my weakest, that's when He was strong. When I get to sing this one folks I am going to put everything I have into it. I believe this song will hit home with a lot of us.

This past weekend we were at East Pleasant Ridge Bapt Church. It was our only singing this weekend and I enjoyed every second of it - especially the good food! WOW can these folks cook. After the singing we enjoyed our meal on the bus and I think it was the quietest that bus has been in a long time without everyone being asleep. If you don't have a home church and you are in the Baldwyn, MS area check them out, they may have something for you.

I wanted to share a few random pictures with you this week that I forgot I had. Noa has become our little equipment loader and unloader..  he sometimes gets someones camera phone and becomes the group photographer.. enjoy looking at our funny faces as we sing..

A houseful of folks enjoying the music!

I'm not sure how this got in there...

Pray for us this week as Shay will be traveling to Nashville on Thursday to record some tracks for our next CD!! I may just go with him, but let's not tell him till I spring it on him..  Love ya'll

This past weekend was really great! I had so much fun getting to see all my friends in Jackson Al. We were supposed to sing Saturday, but you know how things go sometimes. We actually left out Saturday afternoon, but we didn't get to go in the bus. The new part for our bus was sent to the mechanic wrong two times! We had a great time on the way down to Grove Hill though. Brother Paul met us at Thompkins Bapt so we could set up and not have to get up so early Sunday morning. We got a chance to practice our new songs for the upcoming CD we are recording. It is going to be a treat! I get to sing me some BLUEGRASS.. haha! I don't even have the nose for it, but the guys do..  don't tell them I said that.

Let me tell you folks... that Thompkins bapt church has some of the most fun people I've ever been around. I think it's something about that entire area. We have fallen in love with these precious people around the Jackson, Al area. The singing Sunday morning was great! It is always good to be able to worship, minister, and laugh all in the same service. The minister was very good speaking about bringing GLORY to Jesus. It is something that I have always tried to do in my singing. He gets all the glory.

Those folks at Thompkins must have known I was coming. They had 5 big ole trays of fried chicken! We had a blast. There was this one pretty lady that kept taking pictures of Shay while he was trying to eat. Buddy managed to get some pix of his own of these wonderful brothers and sisters in Christ!

If you want to talk about fun.. the day just kept on getting better! We were at Stave Creek with Brother Jamie and wow what a service. It was as fun as the morning service and must have been good - some of our new found friends from Thompkins was there with us!!!! There was a few times Shay had us laughing so much that to look over the congregation it was easy to see that the Lord was using him to bring some happiness into their lives.

This week has been tough on me and I must be honest, I have those days like everyone else. Sometimes I wonder about that passage where Jesus said He wouldn't put more on us than we can bear. I wonder how close I am getting in my everyday life. Let me tell you something...singing and traveling takes me away from that every weekend. I get to meet people from all over the place that are going through the same things I am. The songs we sing and the places we travel are worth every mile when we know that it takes you out of your problems, if only for an hour.. Never let us take for granted the gifts God gives us. You might be a good singer or musician. You might cook well or sew. Whatever your talent is, share it with someone who's talent is to be a great audience, because they need it as much as you need to share it. I love you all and I am thankful that I got to see momma Allday this weekend - she helps me keep Shay, Buddy and Troy straight when we are in the Jackson area. Pray for us!

By the way, drop me a comment to let me know you are reading the blog. I want to keep in touch with everyone.
